There was the place that didn't want to keep paying me 50€ (about a shift's worth at what was basically miminum wage already) extra for taking care of what would typically be a Chef de Cuisine's responsibilities (it was a tiny kitchen, and the work was about a shift's worth) in addition to cooking, and offered me a cooking shift or two more a month to ‘make up for the difference’. At the middle school level (where I teach), most textbook publishers are even thoughtful enough to coordinate the textbook pages for each lesson across the three grades. For example, the “phrases and clauses” lesson is the same page in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade textbooks. It makes lesson planning that much easier. I do everything in my power to keep all three grades on the same unit at the same time, both for planning and teaching purposes. I worked as a bartender for a 4th of July party at a house. It was a pool party. I was asked to wear a very skimpy bikini bathing suit. Since most of the guest were gay and the host wanted a little eye candy for the guys. I had bartended other parties for this guy before so I knew the guests. Before long since it was hot I jumped into the pool. The host had purchased my bikini, which was see through when wet and had ties on each side. I had two students from the same family in two different classes the last year of my teaching experience (which was a nightmare in and of itself) who had problems, capital P. If things had gone as planned, I would have never dealt with these two, because they belonged to a group of low achievers I would not have taught. An explanation is in order, and follows. She was a single mother, but she made very good money as a civil engineer. She had no problem paying the school’s tuition on time. They had a nice house about a block away from the school. According to my coworkers who taught the students when they were younger, everything was fine until the oldest kid was about ten years old.
